Nuclear Pharmacy Job search for 2012 Pharm D class
, 19-June-2012
Congratulations to the Pharm D class of 2012! Most of you have now graduated and hopefully found a job in the specialty you have worked so hard for. Maybe you're even taking a deep breath as you start to tackle the student loans for your Pharm D. At this time of transition, I would like to offer a few recommendations for recent grads.

If you are not one of the lucky ones, keep your eye on the prize by completing the NAPBLEX sooner than later. You need to be a licensed pharmacist in a state by the next four weeks or employers will start to question your intentions. Get it done as employers are not particularily patient.

Another key piece of advice is to be flexible in your location. If you are limiting yourself to one city or region then you could also limit your job opportunities. The more flexibility in location; the more job choices you will have. This holds true whether you are a new grad or an experienced pharmacist.

My final word of advice is make sure your CV is precise, factual and simple. I have seen many CVs or resumes do a poor job communicating a new pharmacist's skills and experience. Same goes for experienced pharmacists. Putting together a one or two page CV depending on experience can be difficult but it is important to take some time and get it right. Remember, your CV is the first thing a potential employer will see and it is all about first impressions. A hiring manager only takes seven seconds to review a CV. Imagine...seven seconds will determine whether you even get a call or not! Writing a targeted CV makes all the difference. This gets even tricker when you have to submit your application to a company's career center (also known as the black hole). Submitting a resume online can be confusing. Where did the resume go? How does a company filter their resumes? There are often many issues with having a correctly formatted CV. For instance, be sure never to submit in a PDF format.

Anyway, I hope these recommendations help. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions regarding current trends, any existing or upcoming job opportunities or would like me to review your CV for free. Any candidate I work with gets a free CV review to make sure you are presented in the best light possible for a job opportunity.

Good luck and good job hunting, Hayes
